Castillo de Turón, Ardales, Andalucìa

An 8km circular walk, starting from Ardales, full of contrasts. The castle can be located via this link: Castillo de Turòn on Google Maps

History with modernity – ruins amongst wind turbines.

Natural flora with olive and almond groves.

Impressive limestone mountains amongst the wide valleys.

A little bit of history that I didn’t expect in rural Andalucìa!

“Being in one of the Granada incursions that started from Turón, when they killed the Scot Sir James Douglas, who along with seven knights and 20 squires, carried the heart of the King of Scotland Robert Bruce.”
