Five days in a hospital.
Expecting a visit of a few hours for tests.
I have what I stand up in together with one book and my phone.
The future changes. 2-3 hours becomes 3-4 days. Eventually 5
The more I recover the more trapped I feel.
The room becomes a gilded cage.
I’m there for good reason.
The view makes me want to escape as soon as I can.
The help and support is magnificent!
Checks every 2-3 hours mean no sustained sleep.
The bureaucracy is a nightmare!
Visits are a welcome respite from the monotony of being a slave to the master ‘Intravenous’.
The changing scene of the monsoon arriving becomes a fascination
A camera phone becomes a way of amusing myself and keeping my mind occupied.
This is how I saw those five days within this cage, and the view I had from it.
Next time I visit a hospital for anything I will prepare for all permutations.
